Hi everyone~
I'm a member of Providence & I really wanted everyone to know how much Pastor Jung and Providence members have put on the internet to testify about God & Jesus. We are not a so called "secretive" group as some have labelled us. Ultimately, religious history (in particular Judeo-Christian) has been a history of cults. What I mean is that, new groups or offshoots from the orthodox or mainstream have been treated as cults. Even Jesus was treated as a cult in his time.
We are labeled as a cult by some parts of the media based on unfounded and fabricated "evidences". Our Pastor also served a jail sentence based on a highly controversial trial. There are some ex-members that unfortunately choose to go on the route of slandering and ill-mouthing our group and Pastor. I hope such people can find peace in your hearts and move on without bearing grudges. I'm sure we are not perfect, so please also forgive whoever has unwittingly offended you. But please do not spread malicious lies or half-truths about us.
I've put up our side of the story and hope that the discerning audience can decide for themselves.

Bro I'm sorry to tell you but your false messiah is leading you and the rest of his followers to damnation.
He will die soon and won't come back to life. Jesus died, rose again and took on immortality and sat at the right hand of YHWH. Jesus is the only way to heaven. John myung Sook or whatever his name is, is not the "messiah of this time period".
There is only one Messiah, there is only one Lord and His name is Jesus.

Speaker May I add, how dare you try to silence those who suffered ABUSE (mentally, sexually, emotionally and/or however they choose to see it!) or you, your hypocritical self, tell people who share about THEIR experiences in the CULT that they are liars. How dare you, this posts shows extreme naivety and ignorance. - from an ex member who DID suffer abuse and will not tolerate being called a liar. |

Jesusfollower bro, I don't know what you're talking about but as a member of providence, I love Jesus as the Messiah as taught in the New Testament Bible. #Jesuslover. This is part of providence's teachings and espoused by Pastor Jung Myung Seok, who loves Jesus as the Messiah.
I do want to say that even if you believe Jesus to be the only way to heaven, there is no need to condemn other beliefs and assert that others are going into damnation while you are going to heaven. I just hope that we can exercise some love for our brothers, neighbours, and even enemies (Matthew 5:43-48) as Jesus' has taught, and do not judge others recklessly but remove the speck in your own eyes first (Matthew 1:1-5). It is precisely the kind of intolerance that you displayed that has caused so much rife and conflict amongst religions and even within christianity, and is turning people away from the faith.
To Angryatyou, I'm sorry you have suffered abuse in your life and I pray that you can receive healing and recovery. You are certainly entitled to share your experiences/perspective and I don't think this forum is about silencing people like yourself or calling you a liar. But in the same way, this forum empowers members like myself not to be silenced but to providence our perspectives. I want to say unequivocally that I did NOT suffer any abuse while being in providence for over FIFTEEN YEARS of my life. There is certainly nothing in Providence's teachings or system that promotes abuse, instead, it teaches against it by promoting peace and love for the Trinity and the people around us, and teaching people how to attain harmony in oneself and good physical/mental/spiritual well-being. If there are isolated incidences where others in providence have unwittingly caused you such hurt, I do hope and pray for reconciliation and change for the better.

My older brother is a Providence member. I can’t say if it’s good or bad as a religion or doctrinally bc I don’t know much. But what I can say is things were a bit strange when he first joined a few years ago bc he started praying early in the morning, like super early, and started quoting the Bible so much to me. But I don’t really care because he was previously addicted to porn, drinking, smoking all kinds of stuff. Now he is trying to live like a saint waking up like 4am and he quit drugs, porn and hasn’t relapsed it seems. So I honestly can’t say anything bad really because it changed him to become clean and sober. And literally nothing could change him before. He’s still not perfect or anything, but I can’t speak crap even though I am skeptical still just bc I can’t deny that he changed for the better

Many Christians who label providence as a cult, often choose to ignore the fact that Jesus too was once labeled a cult. The Jews at that time labeled Jesus and his followers as a cult. Only his disciples truly acknowledged Jesus as the messiah.
Now, rewind back 2000 years ago, where you now are a Jew, living in that time period.. Never heard or seen Jesus before. Maybe only heard of what he has done. If you listened to what Jesus preached at that time, vastly different from what was taught in the temples and synagogues, would you have considered Jesus as a cult as well?
Don’t have to answer that question, but just ponder on that for a few minutes. I posed this question to my own mother, and she said she wouldn’t have believed Jesus at that time. But now she is a fervent believer. Ironic? To me, yes.

When Jesus was preaching the word people called him cult and he also suffered injustice. But now everyone believed him as a messiah and are following him. I think this is something we should learn to respect other denominations rather than just labeling as cult just because they are not the ‘norm’ as per say.
As a follower of close to 12years, rather than just blindly following, I’ve seen how he lived his life and that was makes me follow him. All of us are work in progress and I’ve never experienced any form of abuse from the man himself. He always taught us to treat people with respect and be at peace with people. I’m sorry that people might have bad experiences but I really hope it can be resolved as well because the way we handle and see things are different as well.

I honestly feel sick reading your defences for providence. You may not have suffered, but how about the 100's and 1000's of people that have left and are still reeling and dealing with cultic abuse? and it doesn't seem like any coincidence that "jesuslover" and "justmytwocents" posted 55 minutes apart, what are the chances of that after more than 3 years of this forum existing? pathetic. "righteous" lies, true?. Don't bother replying to me, I'm not giving this website another second. keep defending that criminal til the end yeah? I truly hope you leave and realise one day like I have.

To "keep defending him", please don't make sweeping claims like "100s and 1000s of people" just because some of unverified sources claims (fake news is something that we should all be familiar with), and even stoop so low as to make accusations that "jesuslover" (me) and "justmytwocents" (someone else) are the same person pretending to do different posts. I state factually that and I do NOT know who is "guest" that posted after me. (Although I appreciate that frank response)
Clearly, you have no proper response towards my life's testimony besides just dismissing it outright as a lie. There are 100,000s of providence members around the world who also have benefitted from transforming our lives positively in providence, and no, we do not teach about "righteous lies" which is unbiblical. In fact, we often have to go through abuse and torment from the unfair misrepresentations as a result of unfair generalizations as yours.
While I'm completely sympathetic of your situation and feelings of being abused (and I will pray for your healing), I simply ask that you stop tormenting the thousands of providence members with your unfair claims and generalizations. I truly hope that you find yourself in a better place in your heart, and realize accurately about providence as a place where God's love abound as I have.
